Back to basics

What a pleasure it was to do this drawing entirely with pencil crayons. It really makes you work layer by layer for every square centimetre of colour! I've always enjoyed pencils, and this was the first time I'd attempted a "real" piece of art work using this medium. Julia is my niece, and Simba, my lovely quarter horse gelding, who as you can see by this, loves to be cuddled!

A Fall Ride

I had the great pleasure to go on a lovely fall ride the other day. Simba is coming along nicely and it was such a good ride. It was the first time I'd taken him up to this area. I'll definitely go here again as the ground was good, lots of places to gallop or canter, plus the views were spectacular! This time I finally took my camera along on a ride.

In The Saddle Again!

How wonderful to be riding again! My ribs seem to have healed up nicely and for the rest of the summer I will hopefully be spending more time in the saddle. Monarch is back from his 30 days of "boot camp" and I had my first ride on him. He was quite well behaved, but I didn't ask him for much. Simba on the other hand was being a bit of an egghead and bucked a few times when I pushed him... He's also normally very good, but I think having his buddy Monarch back home has given him a bit more of an attitude again. I'm sure I'll get that out of him soon :~)
